The Geisinger Gold Reserve plan has no monthly premiums. It does have a $3,000 deductible. The government deposits $1,500 a year on behalf of a member in the Medical Savings Account. Members can use this $1,500 to help take care of the $3,000 deductible. Once the deductible is met, Geisinger Gold pays for medical expenses in full.
This money in the Medical Savings Account is owned by the member and administered by Geisinger Gold. Members cannot make deposits into the account. (Note: The money in the account can be used to pay for qualified medical expenses.) If there is money left in the account after the end of the calendar year, it rolls over to the next year.
If you join this plan, you can go to any doctor, hospital or other medical professional that accepts Medicare and Geisinger Gold's terms and conditions of payment. No referrals are needed.
Prescription drug coverage is not included in this plan. You can add prescription drug coverage for an additional cost – including the Geisinger Gold Rx 1 or Rx 2 plan.
Preventive care and benefits such as hearing and vision are not included. Members may cover the costs for preventive care like mammograms and immunizations of the $1,500 received from the government.
See the Summary of Benefits for the Geisinger Gold Reserve plan. It will include a more detailed plan description and limitations.
